One must inquire why the government just didn't just show the law that made Ed and Elaine Brown liable for the voluntary income tax to avoid the expense and danger of a standoff. I say "voluntary" because the IRS's own literature informs you the income tax is based on voluntary compliance. No bureaucrat will ever assess your income; you do it yourself, voluntarily, waiving your Fifth Amendment right when you sign that 1040.

The 1040 instruction booklet, the Paper Reduction Act Notice and Privacy Act Notice all tell you that you only have to pay taxes you are liable for. Well, 26 U.S.C. 4404, 5505, 4786 are the liability clauses for tobacco, alcohol and wagering taxes. Where is the liability clause for the income tax? That's what the Browns respectfully asked for over and over, only to be shown the barrel of a gun.

The Browns didn't want to voluntarily waive their rights, but instead stood on them. They were willing to pay every penny, as soon as they were shown the law that made them liable. The Browns paid all their other taxes.

The people have a right to ask questions and get answers. This is found in the First Amendment. A maxim of law is "no answers - no taxes." It's the people's way to peacefully control an out-of-control government.

The Browns were justified and are now political prisoners.

Ed and Elaine Brown Convicted in Plot to Defend Themselves

Tax protesters Ed and Elaine Brown were convicted today on all counts “of plotting to kill federal agents during a nine-month standoff at their fort-like rural home, where they had holed up to avoid arrest on tax evasion,” the Associated Press is reporting.

Both face mandatory minimum 30-year prison sentences on that charge alone, amounting to a virtual death sentence for the Browns, who are in their 60s.

Ed Brown testified during the trial that the weapons in his home were for self-defense. Brown said he believed the government planned to kill him, a not unrealistic assumption considering government action against the Randy Weaver family at Ruby Ridge, the residents of Mount Carmel outside of Waco, Texas, and countless other people who have resisted the government.

“By rejecting the rule of the law and substituting a personal code involving weapons, explosives and threats, the defendants committed increasingly serious crimes,” acting U.S. Attorney Michael Gunnison said. “Their conduct has no place in a civil society.”

In other words, resisting a criminal tax confiscation system and responding to threats by heavily armed federal agents has no place in a “civil society.”

The Browns are scheduled to be sentenced to death on September 3.

For over ten years Ed and Elaine Brown have asked the IRS over and over again, what law makes them liable for the income tax? In response to their repeated question on the issue instead of simply answering the Browns. The IRS in collusion with government decided to try and ¡!force-them-to-voluntarily-comply¡! with the criminal activities of the IRS; this resulted in a standoff that lasted many months.

Fortunately no one was killed in the standoff, but Ed and Elaine Brown were eventually arrested by Federal agents who pretended to be supporters. Ed and Elaine Brown are now political prisoners as well are four supporters (the freedom four) whom courageously stood with them during the standoff.

The Government still refuses to answer the people’s questions on the legality of the income tax, and expects you to pay the tax at the barrel of a gun, without revealing a law that makes you liable to pay. Because of the courageous example of people like Ed and Elaine Brown, many people all across America and the world have unanimously decided to peacefully resist the unlawful activities perpetuated by their governments.

Irwin Schiff one of the founders of the Truth in Taxation movement and current political prisoner once said that there are two types of people that pay the income tax, those who are either ignorant of the law, or fearful of the government.

I would encourage you all to watch Aaron Russo's movie, “America: From Freedom to Fascism” this will eliminate the ignorance equation in the aforesaid example, and then you will be forced to choose. Pay the Income tax out of fear, or choose the path of resistance that best suits you, whatever you do, do so knowingly, let us all step out of the fog, and into the light, by doing what we know to be inherently right.

I think the US Marshalls should be having a crisis of conscience by now. They’ve terrorized Americans by enforcing a non-law that has been clearly demonstrated over, and over again to be Unconstitutional. Hiding behind their job’s, in which they believe have nothing to do with protecting our Constitution.

I am similar to Ron Paul a fan of peaceful civil disobedience; however it was Dr. Paul who said the following: "But whether the resistance against government tyrants is non-violent or physically violent, the effort to overthrow state oppression qualifies as true patriotism." So as you can see, even in Ron Paul’s own words people like Ed & Elaine Brown, as well as the likes of the Freedom-4 are indeed true patriots, this is something that should never be forgotten.

To go against the grain and resist tyrannical actions of government in protection of your rights is your duty as a free people, or an enslaved people whom are striving endlessly in the pursuit of liberty. It’s never going to be easy or organized; nothing is set in stone, other than one’s own Iron will, and desire to stick to a principled philosophy of liberty.

Please, I would encourage you all to do your best to reach out to the Browns and the Freedom-4 this holiday season and let them know that we love them and support the stand that they have made. We will never forget their sacrifice, and we will never stop fighting for the cause of exposing this monumental fraud.

The Federal District Court Judge ("Captain") Singal held a hearing 12/7 in Concord, NH. The hearing was listed on the docket as a "Change of Plea" hearing of Robert Wolffe.

The hearing turned out to be a court appointed lawyer firing session by the defendants. Wolffe filed a notice of termination of Paul Garrity as his lawyer and Danny had his lawyer relegated to "stand by" status and will be proceeding as Sui Juris.

Elaines "Affidavit": Night of The Capture

Ed and I were captured in the evening of Thursday October 4th 2007, after making our stand in our home since January.

The previous weekend, Dutch/Dan was introduced to us by one of our trusted friends and supporters. He and Dutch/Dan arrived unexpectedly at our home very late one night, around midnight as I recall. Dutch/Dan had been working his way into the confidence of our friend for some time, professing to be a supporter and sympathizer of us and our cause.

Dutch/Dan stayed with us for a day or so, offering to aid us in any way. He claimed to be a bounty hunter, living in New York someplace. I do not recall if he said exactly where. He asked to have some broken fillings replaced, which I did, and for which he paid me (which of course was then confiscated). When I told him I wanted to get the rest of my dental supplies from my dental office, he offered to get them for me. He went back and forth to New York a couple of times during the week, so he said, getting in touch with some associates to assist him in getting the supplies. He scouted out the office to see what kind of security was there. Again so he said.

I had asked him why he would take such a risk for someone he didn’t even know his answer was "because I love you guys"
I remember those exact words

On October 4th he arrived with 4 of his associates some of them, I don’t recall if 1 or 2 of them, remained at the house and were in telephone contact. They said there was an alarm on the office door, but they could get around it. Dutch/Dan had told us that he would love to get the supplies out of the office, that it would be a lot of fun to grab stuff from the feds.

They actually brought bags full of "supplies" (?) to the house they put everything in the garage. I never did get the opportunity to look in the bags, but I assume it was supplies in case I did open the bags when they brought them in.

Dutch/Dan also brought 3 pizzas, and we broke out the beer, we all sat on the front porch eating pizza and drinking beer, just relaxing. Suddenly they all jumped us. Dutch/Dan was sitting on my right, and he grabbed me securing my hands. Once he had me secured, one of the others tazered me on my left knee. The other four men had Ed on the floor, they had actually forced him out of his chair, through the front door, and onto the foyer floor we were immediately handcuffed. I behind my back. My memory of Ed is he was handcuffed in front and shackled feet and waist.

Shortly thereafter, Ed was driven to the Lebanon police dep. I was kept at the house for about another hour. Our dog Zoë was so frightened and confused. Fortunately she has a very sweet and passive personality, so she was not killed but was safely taken to the local humane center, as was our cat Amelia.

I was then taken to the Lebanon police dept. as we were driving there, on the road leading to our road; we passed 6 or 8 vehicles traveling together toward our house. Also after we were captured, several men in full bdu's heavily armed arrived at the house. thus there was a very large contingency of Marshalls, if that’s who they all were, gathered to come in. had we not been subdued as we were, I have no doubt they were prepared to kill us. All this for violating a law that does not exist.

Upon arriving at the Lebanon police dept. I saw Ed in a holding cell. I was taken to a cell out of sight of Ed. I saw on the wall of my cell "nhfree" so I know this was the cell Lauren Canario had been placed in. hi Lauren! One of the Marshalls kept telling me how glad he was that we were not shot. That they really didn’t want to hurt us. Of course they didn’t think, of the bad p.r. it would bring them.

He was shouting at Ed at the police station, about how he (Ed) broke the law, etc... This man alternated between concern and verbal abuse. He is the one who kept his hands on me the whole time, from the handcuffing to the police station. I don’t know if that is part of their training, or if he has a mental problem of some kind. for example, while at the house he held me by the arm even though I was handcuffed and surrounded by a number of armed men, he started shouting in my ear about my crime, how I should have paid taxes, how wrong we were, etc etc. i told him I would not respond to him, so he should stop talking to me. He said he was going to talk as much as he wanted, and I had no choice but to listen to him. I just tuned him out by praying silently.

After an hour or so, I was taken from the police station. I passed by the cell Ed was in. we kissed through the metal screen. That is the last time I saw my husband. I was not told where I was being taken. I was taken to the Wyatt detention center in central falls R.I. (a cosmic joke that is the city I was born in) unknown to me Ed was brought to the same place. I was driven here on Saturday morning, but Ed was kept there for almost a week.

While there I was kept in an observation room on suicide watch. I was not allowed to get my glasses or my meds from the house before I left. Friday night I had an asthma attack, and had to have a nebulizer treatment. I was not given any asthma meds until Monday night here, and then it was only due to my constant asking and kindness of a physician’s assistant, and after having to have another nebulizer treatment. I am ok but Ed has been and continues to be mistreated. He is still in isolation at Elkton, and our mail to each other is being held. My only word of him is from others who have been able to communicate with him.

Dutch/Dan was very good. Ed and I had our suspicions, but we let our guard down. Perhaps the situation was starting to get to us. I know I was starting to get itchy about being unable to leave, and having to rely on others. It had to end one way or another, and so it has.

We know god has a plan and we all have a part to play in it. He leaves it up to us to decide if we will play that part. Ed and I made the decision to do so. Looking back years ago when we started this. We did not realize that is what we were doing. But now we know why it always felt so right to us; we did what our hearts led us to do. What god has planned for us, all of us, from now on is up to him. To let us know in his own time.

That does not mean that I sit here and do nothing. I have met some amazing women here who have opened my eyes to a new path in our quest for freedom. We are working along that road now, in our continuing effort to expose the fraud in our government. Is this why I am here? Only the future will tell.

Be brave, stand up to oppression; injustice to one is injustice to all. Anyone who does not fight is part of the problem. That seems harsh, but these are harsh times!

Romans 12:2 says, “be ye not conformed to the world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove that which is the right and acceptable and perfect will of god."

Beverly Durand of ShowTheLaw.com reports that Wayne T. Salisbury Jr. the Warden of WYATT DETENTION FACILITY in RI, contacted her back with regards to the torture allegations. Durand reported that the Warden was very sketchy on the details; in the fact that he would release no details at all.

He claimed that three gentlemen were assigned to look into the matter and nothing was found. Beverly reports that the Warden went to great lengths to not use the word “investigation” during the conversation.

Durand also reports that the warden refused to provide documentation into the unofficial investigation. At one point during the conversation, it was confirmed that he would release documentation only if the Attorney General requested it from him.

On a lighter note, I personally called the Elkton facility where Ed is currently staying. Although the employee of the Federal Correctional Institution could not release any health details on Mr. Brown, the man was courteous, professional, and transparent in his demeanor.

It is currently not clear why Cornell Corrections, the previous management of the Central Falls Detention Facility, fired Salisbury from his position as warden, however, the new management Avcorr appears to have rehired him.

Prompt and consistent public disclosure is always the most effective means of ensuring confidence in the actions of these privatized prisons.

I think, at this point in time, it would be appropriate that the WYATT DETENTION FACILITY confirm publicly that an investigation has taken place or has yet to take place regarding Ed Brown’s claims.

Privatization should not be a license to torture and/or cover up torture.

Former Cranston Police Department Captain, Robert Brown, who is currently employed at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility in the criminal investigations division fails to address torture complaints reported by advocates of the Brown’s. All inquiries into the matter are being referred to the Warden of the facility who seems to be consistently and repeatedly unavailable to speak on the matter of the alleged torture inflicted upon Ed Brown who was housed in the Wyatt Detention Facility.

Yesterday Co-founder of ShowTheLaw.com, Beverly Durand, contacted Robert Brown at his place of work at the Wyatt Detention Facility in order to press the claim of torture that allegedly occurred at Wyatt on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of October. It has been confirmed that Beverly reported the claim that Ed Brown was being gassed while in the “care” of Wyatt. However, instead of receiving the claim of abuse, the investigator has chosen to refer Beverly to the warden of the facility.

Both this author and Beverly have previously left our contact information with Robert Brown in hopes that he will reach out to us in good faith in order that he may receive the full details of the claim, and or confirm that an investigation into the alleged incident has been launched. In both cases, Robert Brown seemed more interested in investigating us rather than getting specifics on the claim. Further efforts will be made by the founders of this site into the torture allegations that Ed Brown reported during a phone interview which took place on the 17th.

10/23/07: I am currently investigating the claims made by Ed Brown that he was gassed in a Rhode Island private prison. It has been confirmed by an employee at Wyatt Detention Facility that Edward Lewis Brown was released on the 10th.

I have contacted the investigative division of Wyatt Detention Facility and spoke with Rob Brown who asked for my first name, last name, and phone number. I provided the gentleman with the details, and he said he will call me back. When he calls back I plan on requesting a formal investigation into the claims that Edward Lewis Brown was gassed at that facility on the 8th 9th & 10th for a duration of 2-3 hours, per incident.

I made the gentleman aware of the claims during the initial call, but rather than address the claims he seemed more interested in my name and contact information. We will wait and see if Rob Brown contacts me back and acknowledges the claims, or initiates an investigation.

10/24/07: I have not received a phone call back as promised from Rob Brown, the main investigator in the investigations division of the Wyatt Detention Facility, located at 950 High Street Central Falls, RI. An associate investigative blogger who contacted the facility today reported that Investigator Rob Brown would not confirm that an internal investigation would be held into the alleged incident. My associate reported the only thing said and repeated was that “he was directed to have me call the wardens office.” Multiple attempts were made in contacting the warden, to no avail.

In a press conference that hit the national media: Ed and Elaine Brown reveal that there is no law that makes the average American liable for an income tax. A public challenge was made available on the many websites in support of the Browns. The offer was simple find the law that makes them liable, and collect the $1,000,000.00 reward that the Browns were offering as a finder’s fee.

No one claimed the $1,000,000.00 reward, proving conclusively without a shadow of a doubt that there is no law that makes the average American liable for an income tax. The mainstream media including but not limited to the New Hampshire Concord Monitor, and Union Leader failed miserably in their meek attempts and pseudo-investigative journalism.

With an outstanding million dollar reward, the story over the past several months should not have been about a potentially violent standoff, but rather more focused on the fact that the reward was not being claimed. If there was a law, it would have been very simple for a member of the media, or a U.S. Marshal to personally enrich themselves and end this conflict without any risks whatsoever.

Where was the real story during this standoff, was it at the Browns home in New Hampshire, or was it at the IRS office building, the organization whom will not show the law, that they are unlawfully having the lower courts enforce, those very same lower courts that do not adhere to the countless supreme court decisions. This is why we have the new media, in order that we may combat the disinformation and meaninglessly sensationalized articles brought to us by the news media.

Where the news media fails bloggers will succeed, the fact is out now, there is no law that makes you liable for an income tax. This is the dirty secret behind this whole story, this is the secret they do not want you to know, this is the secret that the mainstream news media will not report on.

Our government expects us to comply to the will of the IRS, and not the letter of the law. The letter of the law is meaningless, the government is rogue operating only by force, coercion, fraud, you name it, when they will not publicly provide the law that makes the average American liable for an income tax, in order to resolve a matter simply and most effectively, and would rather spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in a very complex standoff that could have simply been avoided by showing the law. Then we know, again this is beyond a shadow of a doubt, we know that we have been had.

I’m sincerely, thoroughly, and totally, disgusted with the fact that the Concord Monitor, and Union Leader have failed so miserably, and dropped the ball on this key fact. Only once did I see it, that it was reported that a high level official evaded that question. Only once, and this was in a hit piece that was clearly biased against the Browns. it’s a sad day in America when even the local news outlets are willing to sell out their own country.

Brown and his wife Elaine were arrested on Friday after U.S. Marshals posing as supporters gained access to their Plainfield home and apprehended the couple.

The Union Leader however reports that: U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said that the two did not surrender. At this point and time the Feds are not releasing any details on the reported "arrests".

Hi Voterescuers!

As some of you may know, one of our longest-standing and most dedicated members of VoteRescue, Terry Melton, recently underwent a trauma when he was arrested in a raid in New York related to his work on a video about Ed and Elaine Brown. The Browns are tax protesters in New Hampshire whose home is surrounded by federal agents; they will not surrender to authorities to serve their sentences for non-payment of income tax because...there is no law that says we really have to pay income tax.

Terry courageously took several trips to the Browns before access to their home was blocked by "authorities" and videotaped interviews with them and is working on a film about their situation.

Just after 9/11, Terry was with a friend of the Browns and was caught up in a raid of that person's home, abusively treated, and had his life threatened by a federal marshall. He was literally told that if he ever told anything about the Browns or their story, let alone make a film about them, the agent would hunt him down and kill him even if it took 15 years.

As you can imagine, this has had a traumatic effect on Terry. He did, however, immediately come back and get on the radio and tell the entire story, and continues to work on the film about the Browns. A true patriot, he "will not stop" in his quest to get the truth out about the Browns, just as he does for us at VoteRescue with election fraud issues.

Where do we stand today in our country in the matter of freedom? Do we even know what freedom is today? The founders of our country knew, but it took them a couple of years to realize it.

After escaping from Britain and the rules of the king, it took those brave pilgrims some time to fully realize and be able to appreciate the fact that they had no one to whom to answer, save their own conscience and common law (common sense). What joy to know this kind of liberty, which they had never before experienced. They could now conduct themselves as freely as they wished, as long as they honored their contracts and did no harm to another. This is the total of common law; this is the law by which the people, the sovereigns, of this country are to abide, the law we were intended to obey.

How ludicrous to think that our fathers would leave the tyranny of the king, only to implement a tyranny of a strong central government. As Mel Gibson's character in The Patriot asked, "Why would I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away?"

My thanks and appreciation to Robert Hart in his enlightening book, Citizen/Slave, Understanding the American Sovereign Spirit," for reminding me of one crucial fact: the constitution was written not only to guarantee our God-given rights by the Bill of Rights, but also to give the guidelines for the federal government to conduct itself. All laws, statutes, policies, etc. apply ONLY to them. NONE APPLY TO YOU AND ME, PRIVATE PEOPLE. The constitution is meant to tie down the government from mischief.

Title 28 USC defines the United States as a federal corporation. If you are not a part of that corporation, i.e., you have no contract with it, you are not employed by it, you are accepting no benefits from it, then by the 'right of association' clause of the first amendment, you are not required to obey any of its dictums; it has no jurisdiction over you. This is where we have all gone astray. We have been made to believe, through fraud and trickery, that everything congress dictates applies to us, when in reality it applies only to themselves and consenting corporations (which are a creation of the state.)

Of course, one can always volunteer to join the corporation, and by so doing enjoy the privileges bestowed by it, keeping in mind that for every privilege one accepts, one gives up a right. Freedom is not for everyone; some people want to be taken care of; that's OK. We all have different desires, limits and abilities. It is for none of us to judge those who choose a different path. But for those of us who choose freedom, we have not chosen the easy road. Freedom is hard, it is work, it is constant vigilance. It means taking care of yourself and yours, of accepting responsibility for your actions (and non-actions), of being aware and considerate of those around you so as to do them no harm.

Ed and I have said 'enough,' and even though we are currently unable to leave our home without risking being unlawfully assaulted by the federalies, we are more free now than we have ever been, as we have boycotted any and all government claims on us. At the same time the government has unlawfully attacked us by terminating our electricity, internet access, television satellite, telephone, and mail (the federal marshalls keep all mail that is sent to us.) The federal marshalls have said they know we have broken no laws, but they will come against us when ordered to. That makes them mercenaries, not law enforcement officers. On the local level, even though the law states that the police and the sheriff are duty bound to protect us from foreign assault (the federals are foreign inside any of the fifty states), Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Prozzo, Plainfield Police Chief Gordon Gillins, and the Plainfield Selectboard have all stated that they will not protect us. I include this personal account only to make the point of the dangers of a strong central government. Remember, injustice to one is injustice to all; what will you do when they are at your door?

Our country has gone astray, my friends, and it needs to be put right. It is time for a third Continental Congress. We are ordered by the Declaration of Independence and by the New Hampshire Constitution, Article 15, The Right of Revolution, to throw out the old and put in the new when the government no longer serves the needs of the people. We are on dangerous ground with an ever increasing central government that infringes on states' rights and on our God-given rights. When will we stand together and say, 'enough?' When will you stand? When the critical mass point is reached, when enough Americans take the stand, we and thousands of Americans like us will be able to walk in that freedom.

I see that you've arrested four men today. What I don't see is that these men have committed any crimes. Who have these men victimized? Who has a claim against them? Who has been threatened, harmed, robbed, or defrauded? Where are and who are the accusers of these men? I want to know -- NOW.

It appears to me that you're digging your graves even deeper. Instead of simply coming out and SHOWING THE LAW that requires specifically Ed and Elaine in their former positions as productive, contributing members of sovereign American society, to pay a TAX on their labor. This would amount to slavery, aka involuntary servitude (unless it were VOLUNTARY). Maybe this is why the IRS always uses the term "voluntary compliance?" After all, something cannot be simultaneously voluntary AND mandatory at the same time.

Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution for the United States of America

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

There isn't much room to debate this particular amendment. There also isn't much room to debate that the 16th Amendment was not ratified properly. Nor is there room to debate the various court rulings which have never been overturned that say the 16th Amendment did NOT confer any new powers of taxation to any new subjects. Nor is there room to debate that even if the previous evidence were flawed, CONGRESS HAS NOT PASSED ANY LAW TO TAX OUR INCOME!!! If such a law exists (and the aforementioned is not applicable or correct), then why can't they simply SHOW US THE LAW? Is this too much to ask? If it's there in the law book somewhere, let's see it and we can all stop arguing.

This thing has been blown wide open by the many people involved -- patriots like Aaron Russo, Sherry Peel Jackson, Irwin Schiff, Bob Schulz, Ed & Elaine Brown, and of course Danny Riley, Bob Wolffe, Cirino Gonzales, and Jason Gerhard -- the four men you arrested today -- among countless others. When more, and more, and ever more men and women across this wonderful land realize the fraud of the income tax, that THERE IS NO LAW, how are you going to justify your actions? "I'm just doing my job," or "I'm just following orders," does not work. The Nazis tried these excuses and they failed miserably. You follow in their footsteps -- committing war crime, after war crime, after war crime. You work for the wealthy, power elite who have declared war on US -- the American People. You're on the wrong side!!!

This is how it was in 1775 and the years before the revolution. We're back at that same point again. As JFK said -- before your employers killed him -- "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." You men and women are our brothers and sisters -- just as the British (and their loyalists) were. Why are you making peaceful revolution impossible? Do you CRAVE war? Is that why you dress up as warriors, in black, in sniper suits, with body armor, masks, face paint, and automatic rifles? We certainly don't. We wish for peaceful revolution.

Ed and Elaine have proposed peaceful resolutions to this whole mess. A) You leave them alone and they will continue their peaceful, productive lives not harming anyone as always or B) You can show them the law that required them to pay the tax, and they'll surrender. You seem to want to choose C) Ignore the Constitution and our laws and arrest, hurt, and kill anyone who goes against you.

Option C is tyranny.

You have admitted to Danny Riley that you folks in your black SUVs and BDUs (battle dress uniforms) are fully aware and acknowledge the nonexistence of this elusive law. So how then can you enforce it? Don't you have a conscience? Didn't your parents teach you right and wrong. Indeed, one doesn't even need parents -- right and wrong comes from the HEART. Have you worn those uniforms so long that they've squashed your hearts? Are your hearts just a few sizes too small like the Grinch?

No, I don't think so. I think you just get paid too well. I think you are mercenaries -- the same type of mercenaries that have been around for many thousands of years. You are hired guns -- willing to commit VIOLENT CRIMES for money. Your paychecks and pensions are all too precious to you. You've sold out that which makes you human to begin with -- a sense of honor, love, kindness, and righteousness. You've sold your families, your kids, your grandkids, and the rest of your country. You've sold US out -- for money.

You make us sick and disgusted. You make us ashamed to call you our countrymen and women.

I am so saddened that I live in this land with you folks. I'm sure I could find more honor and decency in places all over this globe. But to have been raised in THIS land -- the land of my forefathers -- the land won with the blood of free men, with even the price of the innocent blood of its inhabitants, to have been raised in THIS land and taught the virtues of freedom, and to live and witness these transgressions -- it is unthinkable.

You have arrested four innocent men. As you read this, they are most likely being treated badly -- food and shelter conditions, interrogations, terrible threats such as life in prison, decades in prison, you name it. Perhaps you are even using some of the other torture techniques you commonly employ around the world and in THIS land. You have arrested these men for the ultimate crime: following their hearts. These men were moved by their hearts, from the very depths, to help and assist and older couple whose lives have been turned upside-down by your unwillingness to follow the law.

This help might have meant bringing them food from the grocery store or candles from supporters. It might have meant spending time with them and sharing their love. It matters not how these men supported the Browns. They did it from their hearts. They did it and, to my knowledge, never hurt anyone -- including unlawful mercenaries like you. This means they are not criminals -- as they've harmed no one and violated the rights of no one. Why, then, did you arrest them? Oh yes, your paycheck.

I don't know what the future will hold. I do know that if fate looks unfavorably upon freedom, and our generations are doomed to a tyranny that even surpasses what we have now -- you all will regret your actions deeply. Your paychecks will not buy salvation from your own guilt. You have an opportunity to stop committing unlawful acts of violence against the People, and to utilize your so-called positions of "authority" to SECURE our unalienable rights like the Declaration says. If this is too much to ask -- then arrest me and the others. For we stand with love, freedom, and truth. We follow our hearts, not the paychecks of evil masters. We stand with and support the Browns no matter what you do. So show us the law, or arrest us too.

Four associates of Ed Brown arrested

CONCORD, N.H. --Four men accused of helping obstruct justice in the case of convicted tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown have been arrested, U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said Wednesday.

Monier said the men are Cirino "Reno" Gonzales, 30, of Alice, Texas; Daniel Riley, 40, of Albany, N.Y.; Jason Gerhard, 22, of Brookhaven, N.Y.; and Robert Wolffe, 50, of Randolph, Vt.

Charges range from accessory after the fact to possession and use of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.

Officials believe that the men participated in various efforts to assist the Browns in avoiding justice at their rural home in Plainfield and conspired to impede federal agents.

The Browns, who were convicted in January and have refused to turn themselves in to authorities, claim the federal income tax is not legitimate. Supporters from across the country have visited them at their home, although some relationships have come to a bitter end: The Browns have squabbled with bloggers, radio hosts, and several spokesmen and assistants.

A Web site about the Browns says they're planning to hold a fundraising event on their property on Saturday.

Monier said Gonzales was arrested in Alice, Texas; Riley in Cohoes, N.Y.; Gerhard at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; and Wolffe in Hartford, Vt.

"In this case, these men are alleged to have helped the Browns in their ongoing refusal to surrender to authorities," Monier said. "The Browns have engaged in a course of conduct that has led to further criminal investigations into their activity. Anyone who aids the Browns is subject to investigation, arrest and prosecution for serious felonies, which carry very heavy prison sentences."

Earlier this year, officials cut power and telephone service in an effort to ratchet up pressure on the couple convicted of scheming to avoid federal income taxes by hiding $1.9 million of income between 1996 and 2003. The Browns said they hadn't noticed the changes, they can survive on generators and they have 103 wooded acres to keep warm this winter. Their home is on an isolated dirt road and includes a turret that offers a 360-degree view of the property and a driveway that is sometimes barricaded with sport utility vehicles.

The Brown's phone numbers still appeared to be disconnected on Wednesday.

Also, heavily armed police once surrounded the Browns' home and readied for combat in June while they seized commercial property the couple owned in a neighboring town. SWAT teams, military and explosives vehicles marshaled in the tiny town and sparked rumors -- and expectations -- of a raid. U.S. marshals said it was only for surveillance.

Those authorities were seen by Riley, who was out walking the couple's dog when he was detained by marshals.

Since abandoning his federal trial and retreating to his home, Ed Brown has repeatedly said that any attempts to arrest him would result in a violent confrontation. He's also directly named investigators, prosecutors and the judge in his case, suggesting that they could be killed if anything happens to him. At other times, he has said their actions to date already justify retaliation.

"This was a tax case," Monier said Wednesday, "but over the last seven months, the Browns have allegedly obstructed justice and encouraged others to assist them. Ed Brown has threatened to kill law enforcement and other governmental officials. So, our message to the Browns is clear: do the right thing, call us, and surrender peacefully."

Monier said his office will continue to assist local police to control access to the Browns' property, in a safe manner "and with minimal intrusion to the Plainfield community."
